.Subclip extension name missing on export

Hi, hoping someone can help with a recent Premiere (V 12.1.2) quirk I'm experiencing.

I'm clipping footage for stock in premiere as usual using in and out points and then creating subclips which I want to then export as stand-alone clips. To do this fast, I've always gone with the automatic naming convention in premiere. So for example if the master clip from my EOS R wass called MGP_4576.MP4 then the 1st Subclip used to be auto named MGP_4576.Subclip0001 and so on, this helps me later on if I need to trace where the subclip originated from. Recently the subclips have taken to naming themselves MGP_4576.MP4.Subclip0001 which isn't ideal as exported into pro res they became MGP_4576.MP4.Subclip0001.mov. Too many dots for my liking. Now though, when I export, all of the subclip extension is ignored giving me clips with the original name but a double extension like this MGP_4576.MP4.mov which is ridiculous. Strangely the original masterclip when exported drops the  .MP4 as it should and becomes MGP_4576.mov. Any ideas why premiere has suddenly decided to play up?

There are too many clips to name manually, hope someone can help!

cheers Paul

Not sure why this is happening.

Not ideal but might be worth forking out for if you're desperate.

Hi Mike,

thanks for your quick reply, very helpful. Not sure I'm keen to spend money on something extra that up until a few days ago used to work fine. I just downloaded the new premiere pro and got the same behaviour with that too and with lots of different file types. really cant work out why this suddenly happened. I've been doing this for years succefully. I've found some files from older projects that exported with underscore before the subclip prefix and I'm sure that is how the files used to be automatically named.

So for instance 4567.mov subclipped, automatically became 4567_Subclip0001.mov. It's like premiere doesnt know what a file extension is anymore, very odd. Even without subclipping files are ending up with double extensions on export which just isnt right. Could it be a problem with the OS?
