Tectonic plates move faster than Premiere 2019

I'm revising a simple :15 spot in Premiere & After Effects via dynamic link.  Previously the spot rendered in about ninety seconds.  It's now taking about ninety MINUTES.  Once rendered, exporting it via Premiere or sending it to Media Encoder is also insanely slow.

This software is simply not usable.

I was having a similar problem. Found that after switching to the After effects project of the linked files and back to PPro while rendering it all went much faster. Also not sure about Metal vs Open CL which may be an issue. This is a recurring problem with dynamic link in new versions. I never let the apps update over old versions. Hope that helps.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you are getting performance issue with the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro.

I understand that you are using dynamic link between After Effects and Premiere Pro. We'll need more information to understand the issue better.

  1. Which Operating System are you using?
  2. Please share the system specifications (RAM, GPU, processor)
  3. Are you using any plug-ins?
  4. What is the resolution of the media that you are using?

Note: Please check if GPU acceleration in enabled under File > Project Settings > General > Video Rendering and Playback.

Thanks,

Shivangi

AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

24fps ProRez 4k files edited into a 24 fps 1080 sequence.  Lumetri on all shots.

BCC lightsweep, BCC vignette (Latest version).  Extremely simple spot with maybe 5 shots, a logo and no composites.

Deleted prefs, have uninstalled Adobe CC and all apps several times.  Have deleted cache.
Have tried using Metal, software only and open CL with same result.

Make new project and import this one.

See how that goes.

A friend of mine was editing with a client who insisted on making really inane observations throughout the edit.  Finally, he turned to the client and asked them to refrain from stating the obvious and only mention things that were marginally questionable.

While I won't be as brash as my friend, I will assure you that I did all of the normal adobe suggested fixes.  Among them, was importing the project into a clean project.

Wow, great tip!  My dynamic link comp had an estimated render time of 5+ hours.  Bouncing over to AE and back to PP cut the render time down to 15 minutes.  You are my new hero.

No problem... glad it helped... I'm pretty sure it was the same thing happening with the last major update and the same solution. Dynamic link is great when it works but it always seems to get partially broken when they have major updates.

My tip... never replace yr current version with the new one... ever... and don't bring old projects across until all the bugs are ironed out.

happy rendering... cheers Pete
