Hi all this is probably a long shot but is it possible to export a transcript from Premier. get someone to edit the transcript not changing or adding any words, then reimport this edited transcript and the edited transcript then edits the time line?

Hello,

Yes, it is possible to export a transcript from Adobe Premiere Pro, have someone edit it externally, and then reimport it, but with some caveats. While you can export the transcript and edit it outside Premiere, reimporting it to automatically adjust the timeline isn't straightforward because the transcript is closely linked to the timeline in Premiere.

Instead, you can use the exported transcript as a reference for manual edits. Highlighting the sections you want to delete or modify in the transcript can help guide the editor. If you’re looking for a more automated solution, you might consider using third-party AI tools like Trint (https://trint.com/), which offer advanced transcription and editing features.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions!

The simple answer is no.  Because while doing text based editing, although you are manipulating the text on the "surface," Premiere is also doing a lot of work under the water to keep it synchronised.

You can do workarounds like have the outside person return a highlighted script to make it easier to find the sections, but referencing directly back isn't happening -- at least not yet.

You can edit transcripts outside of Premiere Pro. To do this, jump to the "Edit transcripts outside Premiere Pro" section in this text-based editing guide.

Thanks Paul, but what i was asking was is it possible to edit the text outside of premier pro then bring the edited text back into premier pro and the updated text edits the video.  let me know if this makes sense cheers
