Trying the new Text-Based Editing in 23.4.
However, it does not appear to be working correctly... or at all.
I have a clip on sequence that has been automatically transcribed. I can go to the "Transcript" window, and highlight text. I can right-click on the text and all options appear - Cut, Delete (Ripple), Delete, etc. When I choose "Cut", for example, the text does not cut in the "Transcript" window and no cut is made in the sequence.
Same issue if I load the clip in the "Source" panel. I can hightlight the text, right-click to show the "insert" and "overwrite" options, but neither function inserts the clip into the timeline.
I may have found the issue. You must have the "Automatically set in/out points" selected.
I agree. This is the way. If you need more in-depth instructions, here is what I wrote in another similar post.
1. Generate your multi-camera source sequences.

Hi, you have to be sure that this button is on (V2 in this case)
I hope this works for you.

Unfortunately my Automatically set in/out points can't be switched on/off, they're not turning blue no matter what I do. This feature worked once for me but is no longer working, even after a restart. I'm cutting interviews so coul really do with it. Follow active monitor is also slected as suggested.d

Frustrating!
A screenshot with the text panel and timeline showing would help.
What isn't turning blue?
Can you see the (subtle) difference in the {} being on/off?

Ah, I get it now, many thanks. But boy that's very subtle, could the toggle on not be lit blue for clarity, like when you hover over it?

I completely agree. While some of the confusion about the "automatically set in/out" is the newness of the workflow, part of it is also the UI design. It is the one button in that row that is a toggle state, not a button you click to do something (split, edit, create captions, etc). Most of the toggle state buttons are in the 3 dot menu or the relatively new "Transcript View" menu.
The look we're more used to is, for example, the icons at the top of the timeline area; each one turns blue for on.
I do not see a feature request to change this.
