I just ran into the same thing. You have to display in list
view. Then it works normally.

i ran into this with CS5. nearly pulled my hair out coz i couldn't drag it to the timeline. here's what i did...
if you already have the sequence in your project bin create a new sequence (file > new sequence). you should be able to drag it in that new sequence now, at least that's what i did.

When one Imports either a Project, or a Sequence, their Timeline will often be in a Bin. One needs to twril open that Bin, and then Dbl-click on the Sequence inside, to Open that Timeline.
Good luck,
Hunt

Thanks to anthony_wyne for your advice. Your steps I took worked just fine. The reason for my losing the timeline happened when I clicked into icon view in the Project window which appears in the top left corner. While in icon view I went ahead and cleared out the sequence timeline icon which I thought was nothing. Not realising that the timeline icon represented the current projects timeline!. So the steps of File > New > Sequence worked a treat. A new timeline was created and then I could drop and drag the video assets. Creating the new timeline replaced the old one the I had accidentally cleared out in icon view. Because the original timeline was deleted all the previous edits were lost. No biggie thankfully as it was a new project ![]()
Everyone else, cheers for uploading your thoughts. Very much appreciated. Just please be aware that people like me are more focused on trying to solve the issue rather than the little bickering comments that crop up. Focus on the solution and thanks again for all the comments here. Well done!
