Timeline zoom behavior changed v23.4

Community Beginner ,

In previous versions, the keyboard shortcut for zooming in/out of the sequence would zoom in horizontally so I could fine tune edits when there were a lot of close cuts. Now, after updating to 23.4, it only zooms vertically. There is no separate shortcut menu item to bring back the previous funcionality, so I now need to use the mouse wheel or zoom tool to zoom, both of which are slower. This is either a bug, or a new functionality that completely removes previous functionality. Either way we should have a choice in the keyboard shortcut menu.

Seconded! This behavior is happening to me as well, I cannot find any way to change it back to the original horizontal zoom functionality. After controlling the timeline zoom this way for the last 15+ years it is driving me insane! Please resolve this bug!

System: Macbook Pro M1 Max 14" 2021, MacOS Monterey 12.6.3, Keyboard EN-US and EN-International (tested both)

An addendum to this. If I select the project panel and use the zoom shortcut, the timeline zooms in/out horizontally the way it used to. However, this should occur when the actual timeline is selected rather than the project panel.

This is a major pain. So far 23.4 has been a stream of pain.

Argh it's so horrible and infuriating and slowing everyone down. I'm sure there were lengthy meetings discussing it, but we beg Adobe to stop messing with the basics, or at least let us old-school editors that are over 19years old choose 🙏🏽.

I'm not seeing this. Looked at PR 23.6 and 24, and with the focus on the timeline/sequence = and - zoom horizontally (more frames/fewer frames on screen).

Is this just in 23.4, or am I missing something?

I'm Wn10.

You have to remove the shortcut of Decrease video tracks height and increase video tracs height and then your old zoom in and zoom out of your sequence will work as before 🙂

I'm not seeing it, on 24.1 now, and in any previous version afaik.

Both +/- work for me (original mappings) and my custom mappings.

And ctrl +/- and Alt +/- work for the track heights.
