transition effects

when i drag the effect onto the timeline where i want it nothing happens. I rendered one of them and it worked for a second but it only showed up on the center of the video not the hole picture. Now it wont let me render the effects please help

You can put a transition only at edit points between clips:

I am guessing he is using effects that act as a transition: so-called transition effects.

These effects need to match the footage.

If they are made for 1080p so should the footage be.

you can see the picture from the test is still visible and its only covering the middle of the video

As Ann said, that ready-made transition is made for 1920x1080, not 1080x1920.

ok i am ok with changing the size but why is it that the demo pic is still over the top of the video
