Turning Long Pauses into shorter pauses

New Here ,

I know how to remove long pauses in Premiere, but I would rather replace them with shorter pauses.
Any ideas how?

Hi @Graphic-Thom,

Thanks for the question. You'd have to redo the silence removal step with updated settings in the Transcript View Options in the "3-dots" menu. See if that works for you. Hope so!

Thanks,
Kevin

@Graphic-Thom,

What is your goal? Brain-storming this, and the direct answer is "no." What is the minimum pause you want? And/or, what is the maximum pause length?

Depending on your goal, Kevin's suggestion might help. That setting is for "minimum pause length" and its range is 0.1 - 3.0 seconds. So, for example, if you know that you are happy with any pause that is 3 seconds or less, set that to 3 seconds, and you will only see pauses that are 3 seconds or more. I have not tested this, but that is how I believe it should work.

Set the filter to "pauses," and go through one by one and hover over the pause - it will show the number of seconds for that pause. You can then decide how to edit that section, but you must do that in the timeline. Note that you can now add markers in the transcript tab. So, for example, use the pause filter to so to the next pause, hit M to mark the beginning of the pause, hit space to play, and M when the silence ends.
