Question

Unable to edit captions imported from Trint

Hi there,

I have recently installed the Trint plugin and have used the program to transcribe an interview. I have imported the .srt file from the Trint transcription, however I would like to amend some of the captions that it has created (eg. text size, alignment, etc). Unfortunately, when I make changes in the captions it registers in the Captions window but does not apply to the caption itself in the sequence. Is there a reason why the changes will not apply?

Thanks!

Sometimes PR captions do not display changes in the program monitor. This doesn't generally happen right away, unless you have dulicated the caption stream after importing it.

There are a number of stratgies for getting the changes to appear correctly. When it works, just save the project, close, and reopen.

Hey Madeleine! This is Michael from Trint. I saw your question on the forum about our plugin. Trint only supplies the raw subtitle output without formatting; the subtitle editor is entirely managed by Adobe Premiere Pro, and unfortunately there's nothing we can do with Premiere’s subtitle editing tools from our end. Fingers crossed Adobe will have a solution for you! If you have any more questions about how to use our plugin, you can email our Support Team at support@trint.com.

Correct - I have asked Madeleine to send me the SRT so I can confirm there is nothing out of the ordinary with it and the issue is entirely within the Premiere captions system.

Captions can be buggy, and I have not used this plugin so I can't be sure if it is something to do with the plugin, but I recommend you don't make any edits to the caption clip itself. If you have added any edits to it then this may be causing the issue.

Hi Mike, I haven’t made any edits to the caption itself, so not sure what’s
happening. I’m just trying to change text style and alignment of the
captions within the .srt file
