Unable to import MP3 files on MacOS big sur. (unable to open file disk)

I do not know what to do here. I have reinstalled premiere pro and that has not changed anything. I am able to import MP4's but not MP3 files. Anyone know why and how to fix?

Convert the mp3 to wav in Audition (or another program) and import the wav into Premiere Pro.

I had the same issue, i am solving it just by changing the extension from .mp3 to .wav, just type it in, Enter, and it will be good to go
