I've recently downloaded a public domain movie in a .ogv file from Wiki Commons to import to Premiere Pro. I'm aware that this file format is not supported by Premiere Pro so I converted it with VLC Media Player to a m4v file format. I used it successfully in the past to convert files to another format that is supported by Premiere Pro.
I used the following settings:
When I tried to import the file to Premiere Pro I got the following error message:
The file has an unsupported compression type.
I contacted Adobe Support and I have to say that the service provided was inadequate. I was advised to download Adobe Media Encoder which I did.
I tried adding the ogv file in the Media Encoder queue but I got an error message saying that the file format is not supported. I was expecting that. However when I added the .m4v file I get the exact same error message. This shouldn't be the case as m4v is a supported file format.
Surely it must be possible to convert this file to a format supported by Premiere Pro.
