Video loses quality after import into Premiere

New Here ,
Dec 13, 2017 Dec 13, 2017

Hello,

I have a video that looks clear and without grain when I preview it from my local drive using VLC or any media player. Once I drag it into Premiere, it loses quality. I've tried re-rendering the scene, and messing with export settings. Exporting the video does not solve the issue so I'm led to believe the video's quality drops upon import. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Check that your sequence settings match the source video. I'm guessing your footage is being misinterpreted by Premiere.

What's the quality level of your Program monitor set to?

Playback quality.PNG

The option underlined in red on the right side ... check that. And also there's context menu (right-click) for selecting High Quality Playback.

Setting playback to full has no bearing on export.

I am having the same issue. The quality drops drastically after import. I have exported and checked as well and the program monitor is set high-quality playback, but the footage imported is grainy and blur. If I want my frame size to be 1280 X 720, but my recording is of a slightly different size, won't matching my sequence settings to my source video change the frame size of the sequence as well ???
