Video not playing in preview or program windows (Premiere Pro CC 2018)

Went on vacation and everything was working fine.  Fired up the machine today and none of my playback or program videos will play when I use either the space bar or click on the play icon in either window.

Installed the updates to v12.1 and Media Encoder and still having the issue.

This is happening in ALL projects with ALL videos.  No sound and no video rolling.  The icon will change to the pause symbol as if it's playing but nothing happens.  Original videos will play in other media players outside of Premiere with no issues.

PC based machine....worked perfectly since I installed Premiere Pro CC 2018 back in February of 2018.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:

Reset a workspace

Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.

    • Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

My first recommendation is Steps 2A and B below.

Unofficial Premiere Pro Troubleshooting Guide

If those don't produce results, I would then recommend Steps 2D, E and F in that order.

Still no luck, try Step 2K.

If that doesn't help, it might be time to work through Step 3.

Nailed it!  Resetting the preferences brought it back to normal.  Thanks!
