Is there a way to set video transition settings so that when I highlight a bunch of clips, the transitions are placed between clips but not at the beginning and end of the first and last clips?

I do not think so, this is by design and a transition will be applied in between two clips.

If I understand you correctly you want to apply a transition to all clips in the sequence but not the head of the first clip and the tail of the last clip. Is that correct?

If so, you can lasso select + hold down Cmd(mac)/Ctrl(Win) all of the clip you would like to add a transition. This will select all of your edit points. Once the edit points are selected, type Cmd(mac)/Ctrl(Win) + D

Hi Peter,

Your suggestion is the instruction for adding transitions to all the clips, but this also automatically adds a transition to the head and the tail.  I am asking to add a transition to all *without* adding a transition to head and tail.

Deselect the first and last clips. See if that helps. Otherwise, just delete the transition at the beginning and end of the sequence. It can't be that difficult.

Sorry, I'm not getting what you're trying to do. Can you provide a screen grab or recording capturing what your desired results are? See the screen recording below. I thought this is what you were trying to accomplish.

yes - that's what i would like!  but when I press "control-d," i get transitions at the head and tail.  What do i need to adjust in my settings so that i do not get the transitions at head and tail?

There's no setting that should change this behavior. Can you confirm that you're only selecting the edit point your want to apply the transitions to? Notice in the video above, I drag and hold down the Ctrl key only over the edit points I want to apply the transition to. You can tell I'm doing this by the red vertical lines drawn.

you're absolutely right.  thanks -  i just wasn't listening properly the first time around.  i have always just held down the mouse to select all the frames i want to put transitions in.  but now i see i must press "control" as i select the frames, so that i get those red bars.  thanks!

while i'm asking, I  want to find a way to change the length of multiple transitions at once - e.g. between a bunch of continuous frames, changing them all, say, for .5 sec to .3 sec.  is there a way to do this?  or even just to erase a bunch of transitions at once?
