Wav file plays fine in sequence and then I can't hear it

I am using the latest Premiere Pro with Sequoia 15.7.1

I have a wav file in the sequence and it plays fine. I can hear it. I have it synced to about 20 clips. Then, I do an operation, like transcribe the audio file, and it continues to play but I can't hear it. I have to quit and restart premiere and then I can hear it again. This happens over and over. The last time I restarted the program, I can't hear the wav file at all.

Any ideas on why this is happening and what I can do?

Thanks!

I opened the project in Premiere Beta and the audio played fine for a second and then I got an error that the audio could not be accessed fast enough from storage. But the audio is on my computer. I have 500 GB free on my computer so that shouldn't be a problem. It never has before.

Thoughts?

  • How long is the audio file, three minutes or four hours?
  • Where did you get it, iow is it created in let´s say Adobe Audition?
  • Is it a standard wav file or a wav file with the FLAC codec or any other codec?
  • Is it 16 bit/48Khz?

Four questions - four answers! 🙂

The audio is 20 min. It came from a client and probably a cheap external
audio recorder. It is standard PCM 48k 16 bit.

I copied the project to an external drive and opened it in Premiere beta
and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks.
