I'm old and stupid and usually won't ever click on a link that takes me to an exe or zip file … cause I think someone is trying to trick me into getting something that will hurt my computer.

So, what's up with this zip file thing that's listed here ??? Isn't that kinda stupid ??

There are quite a few people here who I would trust with my house keys if they wanted to stay at my place while I was away somewhere.. like till the cows come home... I would trust them.  That's not the point. It's the use of the forum and responsibility by adobe to get their shit together to help people 'officially' … via their official help websites etc.

Case in point... just for fun...

There are people who help a TON and the best way forward for them would be for adobe to either BUY their website and expertise ( as an extension of their classroom in a book tutorials ) and or make them 'employees' of adobe with the same stipulation..   Neil comes to mind.... There's no reason on earth that the people doing the most to promote and HELP adobe should remain on the outskirts of some stupid youtube 'make money by clicks' deal, or a pay wall.

They should be embraced by adobe and backed up 100% as a way to 'learn' stuff and 'fix' stuff.

This aint no place for zip files... that's bullshit.

It's not really any different than some of Microsoft's "Fix It" solutions.  Many software vendors' support pages include zip files for download.

In the old days it wasn't too unusual for threads to go off on tangents... some hated it, some had fun with it.

Re: this subject, I have to admit that I am currently dealing with what I have nicknamed 'The Color Tutorial From Hell'.

I wasted 2 days on it, deleted it finally, and now started from scratch a few hours ago.

The tutorial gives the WRONG instructions. That's like if you go to regedit and do what some dope tells you to do to fix stuff, and when you finish your computer crashes and you can't even boot it back up.

A zip file is way better !  That way nothing can go wrong.

Golly, what could go wrong ???

Well, with the 'Tutorial From Hell', trust me, a LOT CAN GO WRONG.

    hehe....

This zip contains a registry file fix for a Windows crash on launch condition in Premiere Pro 13.1.3.

    yikes.

maybe a bad precedent... in the old days people wrote out an entire step by step process to let people figure out what version of windows they have, how to use regedit to get to the parameters needing adjustments ( using the OS ) and made sure they backed up the registry before even 'attempting' and of that stuff..

you really think users today have a clue what that's all about ???

    scary stuff.

Neil, I can't show you the link without clicking on it … you'll see it as a reference to fixing new version with a zip file ( dot zip )… like who knows what happens when you click on that link.. I for one will never find out cause I won't ever click on it.
