When creating a Blu-ray Disc!

New Here ,
Jun 11, 2017 Jun 11, 2017

Please understand that I am not good at English and wrote it in Google Translator.

The camcorder you are using is a Sony fdr ax100 model. When I shoot, I have a codec selection, I have the xavc codec and avchd codec. In the product manual, xavc 1080p 60 frames were shot because the xavc codec is clearer.

I edited the shot in Premiere cc and finally made this Blu-ray disc. However, there is no xavc sequence to choose from in Premiere cc. Instead, avchd has a 1080p 60 frame sequence. I have no choice but to finish editing the avchd 1080p 60 frame sequence and the final output is to Blu-ray.

But I want to output to Blu-ray, but 1080p is only 23.97 frames.
When I select it and print it, the screen breaks when the screen moves.

Sony camcorder When editing a 1080p 60-frame source in xavc mode in Premiere cc, what sequence should I choose, and when I want to make a Blu-ray disc, which preset should I choose the best result?

Hi 주원이,

Thanks for your post.

I want to make a Blu-ray disc, which preset should I choose the best result?

60 fps is not supported with standard Blu-ray discs. You need to create a file for a UHD Blu-ray (use HEVC output presets from Media Encoder). Unfortunately, Encore CS6 cannot create a UHD Blu-ray. You may want to look at other products for creating such a disc. There is some discussion of UHD authoring products (or the lack thereof) on the Red User forum: UHD Bluray Authoring?

My personal feeling is that you should acquire or transcode footage to standard frame rates for Blu-ray disc creation and continue to use Encore CS6.

Thanks,

Kevin

I create great quality Blu-rays when i export 1050p50 to 1080i so Anns advice abowe is spot on.

On topic/off topic:

Since Rovi seems to have continued to support the Sonic Solutions code since Scenarist is still alive it would be great if Adobe could reach out to Rovi for a continued develepoment of Adobe Encore. We really need an authoring solution that last. Adobe Encore is End Of Life and an OS update can and will break it eventually.

Today we have two solutions: Consumer apps with almost no control that are template driven or professional solutions that costs far to much that they probably don´t even want to sell to John Doe. I tried Blue Disc Studio and it seemed ok but has very limited preview options making it kind of unusable in many cases, or at least very hard to work with.

The scenarist page you link is actually on the page of a professional writer (Delancie). Here is the official page:

Scenarist - The Professional Authoring Standard

Do you know anyone who has actually bought any of the scenarist products recently?

No, i don´t.

I started to look for Encore alternatives a couple of weeks ago and found Scenarist among other solutions. I was under the impression that Scenarist was EOL and since Rovi bought Sonic Solutions i glare of hope that Encore might get some love after all was filling my room. Maybe Scenarist has been rewritten, i don´t know.

Here's something in between.  I've used it in the past and actually prefer it to Encore.  It's not cheap, but not Hollywood expensive, either.

Blu-Disc Studio - Blu-ray authoring software

Yes, i wrote about BDS abowe. I downloaded a trial of the Standard version three weeks ago but found out that it was too limiting. There is no real preview were one can preview video at normal speed with audio: "At the moment there is no real playback function. The only way to preview the project with video is to multiplex the project and start it on the player". A two hour project simply takes to long time to multiplex for a simple preview in a third party player.

And since i use motion menues in each project i found out that there is no way to simulate a project before building it when using motion menus, to actually *see* the motion menu in action: "Simulation allows you to see only a menu, without video. Therefore, if you start a movie in the simulation window you will see a black screen.".

I have no doubt that the software is good, but no preview and black motion menues is not a good sign year 2017. I could preview timelines in Encore DVD 1.0 year 2003.

I want to do a quick preview in Encore just to verify that the navigation is correct and that the correct timelines are played, that the End Actions are correct. I use keyboard shortcuts to execute End Actions so i never watch the whole disc. (End-key for Encore and F1 for BDS.)

I noticed in their forum when i tested it that you have the MX version. You had some trouble with motion menues as well, how do you think it works today? What do you think about the software/functionality overall?

If it had functional preview, movies at normal speed with audio and motion menues, when simulating without having to multiplex the project i would have bought it probably directly.

Honestly, I don't think you need to.  Every Blu-ray I've authored with the software has come out fine.  Just checking the settings has been sufficient.

Your choice, of course, but I think you might be holding yourself back on this one.  Overall I think BDS is superior to Encore.

how do you think it works today?

I haven't authored a disk in a while.  Been doing more shooting for others than for myself this past year or so.

Have a project with BD delivery coming up in July, though.  Will find out then.
