When i render (cmnd M) in full screen in premiere It locks me in fullscreen unable to get out

Every time i am on full screen to view video (ctrl + ù on my keyboard, though i believe ctrl+ tilde key on others) It essentially sends me to the rendering part of the software which then leaves me trapped as i can not pres ctrl u, esc, or anything to get out of zoom mode. i pretty much have to just save and exit the whole software and re-enter, is there a work around or fix for this?
