XML Import not working in 2018

Just like importing a project file is now broken in 2018 (although there is a workaround that creates dupe media by opening 2nd project tab), the XML import is now broken, and no XML projects can be imported.  Just as happens when you try to import projects in 2018, the program thinks for a few minutes, then acts as if it's imported something... but nothing happens. No new bins, not an entry on the "history" palette. Nothing.

This is doubly frustrating, as there is no workaround for XMLs.
