25.1 UI Redesign: too much unnecessary padding

Unecessary padding has been added to the edges of UI in almost all panels. While this may be more "modern," it takes away usable space.

Attached screenshot features the apps at the same screen size size and with program panels the same width, but vertical height compresed until the picture would start to scale down in attempt to see the mimum space required. This is to demonstrate screen real estate efficiency.

I do not think the 2025 padding choices make the UI more comfortable, I think it takes away usable space that could go to making the timeline window taller while keeping picture the same size (in red). Every pixel counts to professionals.

Another padding issue that could be addressed is the uncesssary padding Source and Program windows have for picture itself (yellow). Resolve and AVID both push picture right to the edge of the source/program window.

Adding padding might make the UI feel more friendly, but it makes it less effecient and less professional. UI elements float in space without definition of where they truly end as opposed to feeling solidly established in their panes.

The Program window here is just one example.

100% agree, there's padding everywhere now which just makes it all ineffecient. One of the other worst is the keyboard shortcuts menu and Effects panel. Everything's spaced out soo much now

There are users that use the scroll bars and the time ruler numbers.

So yes padding is needed.

There was always plenty of room to click the scroll bar, click the timeline ticker, and see time ruler numbers when the tick marks rested directly on the scroll bar. Why did there need to be extra space between them?

I tend to agree and think you're pretty spot on with this comment. Adobe will point back to some research studies and stuff that all this padding is a good thing, but I'm with you on this. It creates unnecessary space that is not useful. In regards to the scroll bars, when you turn them off as I do, then there's really no need for that extra space. But I'll disagree with the comparison to the Resolve interface as I do think Premiere has a much better interface overall.

Just calling out the effcient padding. Take what's good, leave the rest.
