The BlackMagic cameras all have a log encoding setting, referred to in their menus as "film". And it is a "pure" log encoding, not a flat camera setting thing. We have camera options for BRAW, "film" for log encoding, and also two Rec.709 options.
The Rec.709 options do not record as many stops of dynamic range as the BRAW and log options do.
Currently, Premiere does not have native support of BRAW, so for many users, they choose to stay with the log encoding to get the very wide dynamic range the cameras do capture.
So it would be very nice if there was a log detection for the BM cameras also, in that now thankfully rather long list of log formats ... as although I can normalize to linear space rather rapidly on my Elements panel, it would be nice for most BM users ... or those editing BM media ... for an auto-detect/tonemapping option.
