Display waveforms for audio clips while dragging

Very simple idea, while dragging audio clips on the timeline, continually show the waveform rather than showing a blank box. This functionality is present in Audition, and is incredibly useful for manual synchronization. See attached gif for further explanation of what I mean by the "blank box".

I'm aware you can sort of already achieve this by "nudging" the audio clip, but it would be great if this were always available when dragging. Thanks!

This issue makes doing synced audio edits very tedious. Sony Vegas has done this for maybe 16 years now. And here we are in 2022.

Hadn't used Premiere Pro for decades, and I'd been preaching since Vegas 5.0 how much better it was at almost everything than even Mac FCP.
Vegas truly brings you closer to your projects as it's so user-friendly.
Extremely disappointed in Premiere Pro in 2022.

This is crucial feature for syncing audio in editing mode.
Thats why filmmakers are clapping in a shot. Sync sound.

I think this feature needs attention, just a basic feature an NLE must have, yet here we are begging for it.

Vegas Pro, Resolve, Edius & their very own Rush.

I opened the beta the other day and to my suprise I saw this:

Excited, I opened the app and threw an audio file in to see if it would draw the waveforms during an edit. Nope, same old crummy 1994 draw behavior. -_-

With all the changes to the interface in beta, the one that I want the most is to be able to drag and see a waveform move under your mouse. I could care less about the rounded corners and color changes, I improvements in functionality like this one. The FPS boost has been nice I must say.

This is sad to hear that you still can't view the waveforms in real time while scrolling or moving the clips. Again, Avid and Magix Vegas Pro have been doing this forever. Maybe the graphic you shared indicates that they just Draw faster?

I don't appreciate the label color changes either. I was very dissapointed that the new colors were the default. Thankfully, I have a previous version installed. I open the Labels Editor, screen grabbed it and used the eyedropper in 2024.6 to make my default colors a custom setting. Ugh.

LATEST

I think the change in the latest beta is to fix an issue that has caused flickering while moving along the timeline. It's been various levels of horrible->annoying for the past year or two
