Hide audio channel or L/R label

Participant ,

How can hide this label? it annoys me when I have to display the waveform at the beginning (timeline). Attention I don't want to hide the name of the audio resource, but the label that indicates the audio channel or L R (Can.1, Can.2, L R) see image:

Label on an audio track has been there as long as I can remember.

Moving to Ideas board.

The labels are very distracting and completely unnecessary. Please Adobe, add an option to hide them.

In fact they are inconvenient, especially on large projects, which is why I opened this request.

The only way to get rid of the label is to disable show audio waveform, but that will also eliminate the waveform.

So imo there is no solution but to make a feature request (as in Idea board).

If I remember correctly, these labels first appeared in CC (2013)

I firmly agree these need an option to be turned off, they serve no real useful purpose.

They are simply in the way of the waveforms at all times. You can change the type of waveform from rectified to normal but if you like your waveforms like this, these labels are obnoxious and get in the way. Just want a toggle to disable them is all.

These labels were not present or were not as intrusive in premiere 2023.

I've just now updated to premiere 2025, and these labels are ruining productivity entirely.

There needs to be an option to disable these, now. Why were they even made more prominent (obnoxious) to begin with? What did Adobe gain in value for making these labels completely obfuscate the screen?

My day to day work flow is going to be chalked until this is resolved by Adobe.

You guys want us to pay for this software, hundreds of dollars a year, for updates like THIS?! This is why everybody pirates this garbage software suite.

Give us the ability to disable these USELESS audio channel labels, THEY WERE NOT A PROBLEM IN ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF PREMIERE!!!!!!!!! I DONT EVEN RECALL THEM BEING THERE........

"We're here to help!" ...you try and deal with the ridiculous changes we randomly implement that have a very real impact on your ability to make money. So you now get to spend valuable time retraining your eyes to interpret the new visul information from some BS modification

Just popping in to once again furher reiterate how ridiculous it is that we cannot turn these off, and how utterly useless they are to our day to day workflows.

Best option for now (as of Premiere v.24.6.5 and later) toggling "Show Audio Names" makes the waveform a little smaller but gets rid of the Ch. label at a certain track height. Any higher and they reappear, but its a decent bandiad fix until this becomes a toggle.

Picture of the show audio names toggle working, since I can't edit my previous post (why Adobe?)

Thanks for your thoughts on this and that's definitely a helpful suggestion, however it doesn't work for the many of us who are dealing with lots of tracks of audio and like to keep our tracks collapsed, like so:

Screenshot 2025-05-19 at 7.21.08 PM.png

Screenshot 2025-05-19 at 7.21.05 PM.png

In my example here I'm going to end up with many audio tracks and I don't want to have to expand this A1 track in order to turn on the track names, which now actually make the waveforms nearly unusable as it significantly reduces their size compared to what used to happen in prior versions of Premiere where, yes, the track name would be in the way, but the audio waveform across the remainder of the track were unaffected.

It's really just that these channel numbers need to go or least be offered a toggle to turn them on or off. If Premiere has the power to intelligently extend video clips by 3 seconds out of thin air I'm certain we can get this teensy little UI thing implemented.
