mute source audio button

Participant ,

A simple audio mute button on the source monitor.

It's REALLY time consuming to have to turn the volume down every time I want to scan source footage with audio. If you forget, it blares noise at you and you clients. Ever shoot in a factory or loud crowd or sporting event?

+ 1 on this one. And the fact that one listens to external music, videos or even watch adobe-tutorials ( 😉 ) when editing… like setting in and outs, sorting clips etc.

TaranVH:s workaround is not an solid option. I have allot of clips loaded and it (audio gain) struggles when it comes to generating peak which in return results in "Ok" button greyed out.

Right click on the clips in the bin --> modify --> audio channels and de-click all channels --> do your work and repeat the process to edit with sound.

It works but a simple "mute all button" within the button editor would be awesome!

Yes please. The workarounds make no sense. I don't want to change the audio gain of all of my clips, I just want to be able to mute the source monitor.

It would be so nice to be able to mute the source monitor when logging footage.

Add me to this list. Continually turning down the volume on the source footage is driving me carzy

Agreed, it seems like such a basic function. I've resorted to muting the whole computer & listening to music on headphones via my phone.

Right click on the Speakers Icon bottom right of your PC, select 'Open Volume Mixer' - and turn down the volume for Premiere pro whilst still keeping up the volume for spotify. You're welcome.

While making b-roll selects I'd rather not have the audio scrubbing at the same time, a mute button on the source window would solve this problem without having to change global settings. Thanks!

Please put a mute button on the source file viewer window. Often I'm looking through b-roll with mics set at various levels in various situations where footage can be extremely noisy. It slows the editing process having either having to turn down footage gain or adjusting the output audio.

+1, this is such a basic Quality Of Life issue that could be solved with a simple mute button on the source monitor.

My workaround:
You can select items in a bin, and hit the shortcut for "audio gain" (G by default)
Choose a lower volume, hit ENTER, and ta daaaaa!!! The change will affect all the selected items. Much quieter. You'll still probably have to change the gain once you put it in your project, anyway. So this doesn't waste time later.

You can also apply effects, master clip effects, and use the "modify clip" dialogue box for multiple selected items in a bin.

YEAH, JUST DROPPED SOME KNOWLEDGE ON YOU!!
If you want more, search for "4 hour premiere tutorial." You'll learn some good stuff.

"Shift S" turns on & off Audio scrubbing. That will mute it in the source window and the timeline.

This would be amazingly helpful when I must pick out B-roll and music at the same time. Such a simple thing too. Get on this Adobe.

It's been 2 years and Adobe still doesn't understand the basic things to make users happy.
Davinci Resolve has its own mute button for muting source preview and it is not an exclusive editing software like Premiere Pro. I am not even saying that Resolve has a free edition. Shame on you Adobe...

Shift+S does do the trick while you are scrubbing, but this seems so easy to just add a 'Mute Source' button, Adobe. A very common issue that we all share should be something taken care of in much shorter order than 3 years..

There is no mute button in the Source Panel, but the Audio Clip Mixer does have a mute button, and a volume control that works in conjunction with the Source Panel.

Have you ever heard timecode blasting through your ears? Would be nice to have "Audio Channels" button in source monitor so you could mute (Tentacle Sync) timecode written on one of the two stereo channels. Would def. increase ease of use while going through dailies and drag 'n drop on the timeline.

I need this desperately, not muting the whole app, not disabling scrubbing audio, not turning down all my clips audio, just... simply... muting the source panel audio ONLY! Dear lord why can't adobe do this, how many years have customers been requesting this?!!!

Very frustrating that Adobe has yet to implement this simple but necessary functionality.
