Scene Edit Detection in Source Monitor?

Hi all,
I love Scene Edit Detection, however I've noticed that it's only an option when a clip is on a timeline.  I'm wondering if it's possible to add the feature while a clip is in the Source Monitor, prior to bringing down to the timeline?  I get that it wouldn't be able to add the cut points, but at least being able to add markers before bringing to the timeline would be great.  Thank you!

@KWStrick that's not a bad idea, thanks for suggesting it! I'll make sure it gets passed along to the right team.

If you run Scene Edit Detection on a clip in a timeline and check the option to add markers, those markers are added to the clip and thus also appear on the source clip and in the Source Monitor as well. So you could do that and then just delete the clip or timeline afterwards. Obviously that's not as smooth as it would be if it were available in the Source Monitor, so your idea still makes a lot of sense.

A good idea and a possibility, yes, especially with the luxury of large monitor real estate.  However, when I'm editing on a laptop and screen space is limited or I'm dealing with timelines that have lots of audio/video tracks, someimtes pancaking isn't an ideal option as it becomes too cluttersome.  For my general workflow though, the ability to run the feature on a clip in the Source Monitor to at least add markers would be greatly beneficial.  Imho, of course!

I'm wondering about doing a pancake edit mode, so you could grab the scene bits from the one timeline to drag/drop to the other ...?
