Sync map in Premiere Pro (auto sequence)

It would be immensely helpful for Premiere Pro to be able to automatically build a sync map for me and automatically create multicam clips by selecting a day's worth of footage (multiple cameras) and a day's worth of production audio. Similar to Avid's "auto sequence" function.

If you grab a bin worth of media, and there are several different camera clips that go with one separate audio, and other clips matching a different one, Premiere will make separate multicams of each "set" it sees.

I don't know if you were aware of that.

That's extremely helpful! I thought I had to manually select each set. Very glad Adobe that programmed the computer to do some of these tasks that computers are better than humans at.

Can Premiere create a sync map from a group of video and sound clips I select? That can also be extremely helpful.

Yes, that's the idea, ie: to create a multicam clip. You might want to put those selected elements into their own bin in the project and then select the bin to create the multicams.

If I want to create a sync map (ex. on a documentary, Cam A and Cam B timecodes don't match, and the two cameras stop & start independently), can I select all the clips and check the "Create single multicam source sequence"? I've been looking for something like the "auto sequence" function in Avid. This way, if I can sync one pair of Cam A & Cam B shots, I may be able to pretty much sync all of them by creating a sync map sequence?

Go to the Metadata workspace, and set one as Cam A or 1, the other as Cam B or 2. I forget which "box" you use.

Then if you set the right options in the multicam dialog, Cam A and Cam B get put on their own tracks. A user on the Premiere Pro users Facebook page just went over this.

What I was trying to do was lay out one camera by timecode, with gaps, for situations where I need to create a sync map (ex. if Cam A, Cam B, and Sound were all running timecode but their timecodes do not match). It looks like this allows me to lay out one camera by timecode if I Simplify Sequence after I do so (so all the clips are on V1 instead of stairstepped to infinity). However, I still have to manually flatten the audio channels (which is more cumbersome, as some cameras record 5 or more channels of audio). I put in a feature request about Simplify Sequence flattening audio channels - that would be huge.
