I feel like as one of if not the primary editing software, Adobe should be held to a higher standard. It has been 5 years since I switched to PC and I still mourn the loss of FCPX (there I said it).
1) Live Updating Audio Waveforms - Waveforms are so delicate in this program. If you use multicam or nested sequences you really notice this. Premiere is the only place that makes that feel like a big ask.
2) No waveform preview while dragging an audio clip - This is basic stuff.
3) No speed ramping audio - My phone does this. Also the speed ramping UI is way overcomplicated.
4) I can't nest audio clips - Why is this not possible? Layering audio is one of my main uses for Nested sequences.
5) Reveal in Project does not set the in and out times of the selected clip - I feel like you can see how this is useful.
6) Multicam and Composite View are mutually exclusive. This again just feels like an arbitrary dictation of my workflow. If my computer can handle it, let me do it.
7) Effects feel function specific when the software itself like it's for beginners. Half the stuff feels like a legacy version mixed in with newer effects. There are better transitions in windows movie maker. Importing effects and plugins is always clunky. The audio effects are not accessible when the rest of the program feels like it's being catered to beginners. Like just give me an underwater filter for example. Instead I am expected to build it myself. Not the end of the world which is why it's at the bottom of my list but it's inconsistent with how beginner friendly stuff like a Launch Page or Render Tab.
From what I've read it appears that Adobe is overdue for a major overhaul of their software but are clearly not able to do so. I know FCPX isn't for everyone and has a little kid kind of vibe to how easy it is to use. But the power of that program 10 years ago exceeds where Premiere is now.
Anyone who has used Blender before should know just how intuitive software can be. Even for complex tasks. So it becomes insulting that I have to pay Adobe for software that feels outdated because they can get away with it. Like just copy what Blender does. Honestly. Everything should be able to undo, selections, everything. I should be able to keyframe whatever I want.
Sorry I just have to use this for work and every day I'm disappointed by something new. Compared to the rest of the industry, Premiere just seems to be failing upwards and I'm not sure why. Just tired of it.
