Two types of focus when zooming in the TL

One great feature FCP had when I dropped it 12 years ago to favor PP is the 2 sorts of focus approaches when zooming in the TL. I'll explain and wish you could consider!

1- If nothing/no clips was selected on the TL, the zooming in would be centered on the CTI. All good.

2- However, if a clip was selected, then the zooming in would be centered on that clip. How great!!

WHy? Well, bcz at times, we don't have the CTI placed at the clip we're busy with, hence selected. Yet we wanna zoom in there to check somthg, to maybe Slip it, roll an edit point... So zooming in on it would be very intuitive, instead of jumping back to where we left our dear CTI a few seconds before...

And once one knows that it works like this, it's just a really handy feature!! With more ways (just one more here) we can do faster. Really.

Thanks for considering!

Best,

Federico

@Federico-BlueFrameVisuals,

I get it. And I don't think PR will do it based on selection. But it gets close. But half with the cursor wheel and half with keystrokes.

To zoom on the CTI/playhead, use the sequence/timeline keyboard shortcuts for zoom in/zoom out (default =/-). Yes,  you can use the mouse by dragging the slider ends at the bottom of the timeline.

To zoom on the cursor position, use Alt+scroll wheel. That gets close to the clip selection option since you're actual timeline position (i.e. where your cursor would be) is going to be on that clip, and you can pick exactly which part of the clip to zoom in/out.

Edit: I'm Win 10 on PR 25.3.0. 25.4 has apparently dropped but not for me yet.
