Hi,
I just started editing my first project in Premiere (creating a music video from clips from the movie Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind), and initially everything was going hunky dory. My work flow consisted of identifying and making "rough cuts" in the Source panel by setting In and Out points, then dragging each clip over to a "Rough Cut" track on the Time Line for further editing...
This method worked fine for the first five or so cuts, but then, for whatever reason, I wasn't able to set any new In and Out points. Now, all I can do is move the mysteriously fused In and Out points together (as in, slide them along the Source window), but I can't adjust the time length between them. It's like their stuck with approximately 4 seconds of film time between them and won't budge no matter what I do.
I'm sure there's a simple and easy solution to this predicament.
Thanks in advance!
Matt
Okay, I think I figured it out...
I don't know why this worked, but it did. What I did was simply delete the last "rough cut" that I had dragged over to the Time Line panel. Once I did this, I was able to right click in the Source panel, get the drop down menu where "Clear In and Out" was now active.
So I clicked it and voila! In and Out points were cleared and I'm now able to enter new ones.
Now, whether or not this is the "best" workflow method possible is another question, but that's my system

Can you try doing a right click on the video portion of the source monitor and select clear and out point?

Nope!
When I "right click" (I'm on a Mac) I get the drop down menu, but "Clear In", "Clear Out", and "Clear In and Out" are all grayed out/inactive.
Not sure why this is, or what I can do about it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks for chiming in!

I’m wondering if you may of some how made a sub clip. With the clip in the source monitor you may want to try going to the top of the interface and select clip/edit subclip.
You could also re-import the clip and edit from the second instance of the clip.
