Alt-click (Windows) with selection tool works opposite to the way it used to

Starting with the first 13.1 update of Premiere Pro a week or two ago, and continuing through version 13.1.1 and 13.1.2, the behavior of the Selection tool has changed for me.  I am on Windows 10, and I am currently using the latest version as of this writing: Premiere Pro 13.1.2 (Build 9), as shown in the Help > About Premiere Pro... box.

Until a week or two ago, if I used the normal Selection tool to click on a normal linked clip in the timeline, it would select the linked video/audio track together.  If I wanted to select only the video track, or only the audio track, I would use Alt-click, rather than a regular click of the mouse.  It has worked that way for years.

However, starting a week or two ago, it now works exactly the opposite.  Now, if I click on a clip, it only selects the video or audio portion of the normal linked clip.  If I want to select the whole linked clip (video and audio together), I have to hold down the Alt key while I click.  This is exactly the opposite of the way it used to work.

This problem seemed to start when I updated to (I think) 13.1 a week or two ago.  There have been two updates since then (13.1.1 and 13.1.2), but this problem still persists.

Is it possible that I accidentally changed a Preferences setting?  Or is this a change in the behavior of Premiere Pro?  If this is a change in the behavior of Premiere Pro, I'm bummed - this new way it is working is quite inconvenient, and also contradicts hundreds of tips on the Internet that explain how the Premiere Pro selection tool works.  I have checked all the Preferences, and I don't see anything that pertains to this.

Has anyone else seen this problem?  I'm really hoping the fix for this is something simple.  I searched the forums, and I don't see anyone else who has seen this problem, so I'm thinking that it is only happening to me.

Any help appreciated!

Toggle the Linked Selection button (on is blue) to get Premiere to respect the liked status of clips in the timeline:

Meg, you are the cat's pajamas.  That's exactly what happened.  I had accidentally toggled off the Linked Selection button.  (I never even noticed that button before.)  I just now toggled that button back on, and everything is working great again.  This had nothing to do with 13.1, 13.1.1, or 13.1.2.  I just accidentally clicked that toggle button at some point, and Premiere Pro remembered that button setting.

I googled for 20 minutes looking for the solution to this before I posted here, but just couldn't find it.  This was a huge help, thank you!

There are a number of places in Pr where it is so easy to essentially flip something you aren't seeing. Finding what went weird can be a frustrating and lengthy process to find it was one little thing ... or Pr thought you'd given an instruction via a keyboard shortcut, that you didn't even know existed.

Been there, done all that. Still happens. Glad Meg got you sorted on this one!
