Hi folks,
I recently had an audio syncing issue when exporting AAF files from Logic X into Premiere Pro. In Logic, everything was set correctly and worked, but on importing the AAF files into Premiere, the audio and video drifted in and out of sync slightly.
Frame rates were set the same, bit rates and sample rates the same. Not experienced this issue before. I am wondering if an update could have caused an issue?
any ideas?
thanks

Hi Maffyew,
What is the exact version of Premiere Pro (check in the help menu)?
Thanks,

Hey Maffyew,
I know exactly what you are facing and I've faced this many times before. Simply render the footage in something like handbrake or Adobe Media Encoder and then import that into Premiere. What ends up happening is that the audio and footage are filmed at slightly different framerates. Although most applications won't detect this, Premiere does. When it conforms the footage, it separates the audio from the video and uses those individual files for the timeline, instead of having one file. This means that one is at a higher/lower framerate than the others.
I made a video about how Premiere conforms if you want to learn more about it:
NO AUDIO IN TIMELINE AFTER UPDATE TO 2015.3 EXPLAINED | Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 - YouTube
TL;DR
Render the footage in AME or handbreak first, then import into Premiere.
Kind regards,
Caylem.

Hi Caylem,
thanks very much for your reply.
so you are saying that the syncing issue occurs in Premiere and not Logic? therefor this would likely happen in ProTools as well?
also does it make sense that this hasn't happened before? previous projects have worked just fine.
and to clarify, the issue can be resolved by rendering edited footage from Premiere in Media Encoder, putting it back into Premiere, then importing bounced audio from Logic directly into Premiere?
Thanks again.

The sync issue comes from slightly different frame rates. Does the audio in the footage (assuming there is some) also slowly become de-synced?
To clarify, try running your footage (not the audio) through Adobe Media Encoder, then import the rendered file (from AME) into Premiere. From there, attempt to sync the audio and, fingers crossed, it should work.

it didn't work
i'm so confused. neither the video or the audio seems stretched or distorted. yet in logic they sync and in premiere they drift out and back in in the same scene!

What framerate are you editing at?

25fps

Try creating a project within Premiere at a lower framerate e.g. 24.5fps. If it syncs, then we can work from there
