I have some Quicktime movies (.mov) that I made in Director. I want them to loop by default, but there's no setting for this in Director that I can find. (Not getting any answers on the Director forum...)
I know I can set Quicktime Player to loop movies continuously but I want the loop built in.
I'm a total novice at Premiere but I have access to use it at work. Can I change an already-made non-looping Quicktime movie to a looping Quicktime movie using Premiere CS4? How? Or some other way (freeware)?
Thanks for helping!

Short answer No.
You set the loop in whatever player you use.

Hmm... Guess I'll need to pursue the long answer. I've seen a looping Quicktime movie so I know it's possible but know nothing more...

I have never done this, but I think Encore will allow you to create a movie DVD where the final action of the timeline is to go back to the beginning of the timeline (I think this would be done by creating a DVD with no menu, just a timeline set as 1st play for auto start)
But... ask in the Encore forum to be sure

Thanks for responding. Sounds like learning Encore would be part of this solution. Will have to look and see later if thats even included in the Premiere I can use at work.
A looping Quicktime movie seems like such a simple concept - an Export checkbox: "loop infinitely". Any ideas on why this is not something that could easily be implemented into Premiere, Final Cut, Director etc.?

Here is where you tell Adobe you want a new feature

Encore is for making dvd, bd and flash dvd's for the web.
When you play a QT movie in Quicktime and you want it to loop you set that in the QT player.
If you seen a QT movie loop on the web, that is set on the website itself.

Thanks Ann. No not on the web. A downloaded movie with built-in infinite looping, which I can't seem to locate at the moment as it was a few years back. It was not a .swf or .flv or .gif I'm certain, but maybe it was an mp3 or mp4 or avi, now that I think about it and not necessarily a .mov
Any of those 3 would work for me too. Would you know if that makes the loop I'm referring to a possibility?

Premiere Pro cannot set any video export to loop after playback. That setting exists in the player, not the video.

Sigh... thanks for replies!

As far as I know, there is no way to export a video file from Premiere that will loop on all players. It is very much a player setting.
However!

You can open the video in Quicktime. Go to View->Loop. This will make the video loop. If you now save the video from Quicktime Player. Quicktime Player will now know/remember that you want the video to loop. This is how you have "seen a looping quicktime move" before. This is unlikely to work in other players.

Premiere can export animated gifs that loop. But aside from that, no. If that is something you think would be useful, deposit a feature request here Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
In the meantime, there is a very simple way to make any video play in a loop. Just use an app such as MakeInstantPlayer to turn your mov, avi, mpg or whatever into a video executable. Then it will look just like an animated gif, without degrading the quality or reducing the frame size.
