I'm wondering what I should be doing to edit iPhone XS videos on Premiere Pro on Windows 10? We got 2 new PCs and neither works with the files. Using the files directly causes jumps and stutters and it will not play cleanly in the preview. Using proxies creates broken files - the audio is out of sync, or the video restarts randomly throughout. Running the files through Media Encoder manually made something that wouldn't even play in VLC (whereas the originals work fine).
Going back to Premiere Pro 2018 on an older Macbook works fine with the exact same files. I remember searching for this exact issue previously on the Macbook when we first got the iPhone XS, and downgrading to 2018 was given as one idea and this is the one that worked for us. This version is not available for selection anymore through Creative Cloud so we cannot try this fix on the PCs (unless there's another way to do it?).
Is there a consistent way to get the files to work? We upgraded our PCs in part for a smoother editing experience. We are firmly in the semi-professional camp, editing videos mainly for a small audience online course or YouTube. Nothing too fancy, and with just enough knowledge to get by until now.
I will paste example properties below from a Proxy setup I tried - this is the one that ended up with desynced audio.
