Hey,

so I guess this is a classical question but all the things we found weren't that helpful. So we are shooting for a Broadcast channel which is using interlaced material....every time we give them our footage shot by inspire1 and they integrate it in the movies it totally looks crappy. We are looking for solutions in converting the stuff without so the 50i material looks smooth and not that choppy.....we already tried re:vision fieldskit which makes it a bit better but not that much.

So is there aaany workflow for converting this material into interlaced or will it stay a dream?!

Cheers and many thanks!

Ist it possible, that the broadcast channel uses Avid Media Composer?

I'm working on Avid MC (but we will switch to PrP next year and I'm learning the new software at the moment) and have the same problem with the Inspire.

Switching to another NLE (if possible) should solve the problem. It's only MC that has the problem.

Which camera do you use? X3 or X5? The X3 looks horrible. X5 is not perfect but much better. Again only on Avid MC.

btw, there is no problem with the Phantom an GoPro on MC

They get the stuff like we shot it straight from the SD Card and need to convert it on their own. But we want to do it before because they won't manage it to make it look good.

Its AVC-High@L4.1 1920x1080 50p 40mb/s, like the normal format you shoot with inspire.

Without knowing exactly what they are doing to your footage to make it look bad, it's hard to give a good suggestion.

I'm not clear how editing progressive footage into an interlaced sequence is going to make it look bad, unless as Ann Bens suggested, they are converting it to interlaced prior to ingestion with one field dominance setting (example - upper), then trying to use it in a sequence with the opposite filed dominance (example - lower).

If you want to output good looking interlaced footage, one quick way is to create a new, empty sequence and drop a clip of your inspire footage into it. Premiere will prompt you to match sequence settings. Do so. Then go to the menu Sequence > Settings and set the Fields to Upper.

Export your footage from that timeline in the codec you need for delivery.

But this won't help you if they are mucking it up in their edit bay.

but when I do so it will look shitty on Progressive Screens....it creates those "Stairs" or whatever in smaller details and stuff

    This is the original Footage:

This the interlaced one when I do it how you said....what am I doing wrong?!

The conversion from 50p to 50i should have very little visual impact.

Are you giving them the raw footage, shot at 50P?

Or are you converting it to 50i before giving it to them?

I could look bad if the fields are reversed?
