Dynamic Link - Media Offline

May 09, 2020 May 09, 2020

Hi all,

In my premiere pro timeline, i have several dynamic links working properly. However a couple of them read media offline. When i attempt to relink them and select the file, a pop up comes telling me to import a composition, yet there is no composition available to import.

The strange part is if the after effects file of the dynamic link is open, it works fine. Anyone know how to solve this?

keep the aftereffects file open...    I usually render out my after effects comps that were replaced in Premiere in AE and then put them on top of the ae comp in the premiere timeline.  Just seems to work better...  You're dealing with very complex software and things don't always work perfectly.  Also, I've found that if I have too many comps as part of a single ae project, things can get more problematic.

I appreciate the reply. That's what I assumed but was still hopeful for a possible workaround! Guess it is what it is.

well, never hurts to hope...  is there any downside to keeping the ae project open?  It definitely helped me but was not a universal panacea.   I was working on a complicated restoration of an experimental film shot in the 70's with extensive stabilization sent to AE and had many many comps in a single AE project.  at a certain point, the ae comps in premiere stopped working and I just figured it was the complexity of the ae project to blame.    because there was some system to the naming of the ae comps it wasn't too complicated for me to render out from ae...
