Hello guys, I have 1440p footage but only 1080p monitor. I would like the final video to be in 1440p resolution. Do I simply need to select 1440p as the resolution when I create my sequence?
One possible concern I have is when I tried changing sequence resolution in my previous edits from 1080p to 1440p and export, the exported video (which is in 1440p) is about the same file size as 1080p exported video, leading me to believe that there is no change. Is that true?

Hi there,
Welcome to the community. I see that you are having trouble with export in Premiere Pro.
I would advise you not to jump to a conclusion about the resolution of the video just by its file size. Do you observe any changs when you preview the video? You can right-click on the exported video and select Get Info (in macOS) and Properties (in Windows), to know the resolution of the video.
Also, you can share the video details (frame size, format/codec) and a screenshot of the export settings if you need any other help.
Let us know, we're here to help.
Thanks,
Nishu

Filesize is determined by duration x bitrate.
Resolution does not come into the picture.
