En(core) - Project Folder Cannot Be found

Explorer ,
Dec 11, 2019 Dec 11, 2019

I have created an Encore project and saved it to a hard drive on my laptop.   Now when I try to open it I get the message  "Cannot open project; The folder for this project cannot be found".  I get the same message whether trying to open it from the Recent Projects panel, from File/Open, or by "Open With" from Windows Explorer.  The file is definitely there, all 3 methods see the name.  What's up?   Win10  En CS6   Thanks  Joe

An Encore project contains two items: a folder (cache, source + 3 files) and a .ncor file.

Do you have those?

I think you zoomed right to the problem.   I don't know why, but the folder with cache, source + 3 files for this project was created within the folder of an earlier version of this project.  But when I relocate this folder to same level in the folder structure as the earlier project folders, the file still does not open.   Is there a way to connect the .ncor file to its relocated folder?  Thanks  Joe

Problem solved.   I made a mistake when I moved the project folder, I placed it one level above the .ncor file and the other project folders.   When I moved it to the same level as the .ncor file and all the previous version project folders, the project opens right up.   Thanks for your help.  Joe

I forgot to mention in the original post I also tried moving the file to a different folder, but still get the same message.  Joe

As Ann says, and adding, the Encore project file (e.g  Project.ncor) must be in the same directory as the Encore project FOLDER, which will be called Project.

This still leaves me wondering how this happened in the first place.   I certanly didn't deliberately place the newest version's project folder underneath/inside the previous versions folder.   I wouldn't know how to do that if I wanted to.   But if it happens again I'll know what to check.
