Essential graphics - can no longer add a template to sequence timeline

Hi everyone,

Recently, after years of using Premiere fluently, my system is no longer able to use the Essential Graphics panel.  I'm running Premiere CC 2018 on Mac OS X High Sierra (10.13.6)

No matter which template I select from Essential Graphics, when I attempt to drag and drop it onto a video track (all unlocked) on the timeline, my cursor icon shows the hand with a circle / slash through it and will not add the clip.

It doesn't matter what template I use, none of them work.  If I make a brand new fresh project, Essential Graphics still fails to work.  I really don't think this has anything whatsoever to do with my project or sequence.

This is a recent development, after more than a year of using the Essential Graphics panel on a regular basis.

The only clue I have is that I did install Premiere Pro CC 2019 when it first came out, found I couldn't use it, and uninstalled it using Adobe's supplied Uninstaller, then have continued in 2018.

Any tips?

Joe Winston

Ha!  Here's how I fixed the problem.

I opened up the package for Adobe Premiere, copied the .mogrt files for the motion graphic templates to another location, then reimported them and deleted the originals.  Now Essential Graphics works again.  Don't know why I should have to do this.

BTW, my versions of Premiere and After Effects match, both 2018 versions.

Please try to update to latest Premiere Pro 2019 version that should have lots of bugs fixed for now,

then let us know if it works there... when it first came out it still had bugs

Do not upgrade to 2019. Thus if you want your project timeline to hold your footage hostage by not playing the timeline and having to wait 15 seconds to load every preview you select and continuously shutting down.

makoms if you let us know what exactly is happening by sharing your system specs and your workflow it would be of great help both for you and for the thousands of users on the forums. That before telling others not to upgrade to Premiere Pro 2019
