Exception Access Violation - Cannot edit videos

I've had this problem for about two weeks where I can only edit audio, but adding video to my project crashes it and gives an exception access violation. I have cleaned the media cache and this has not worked. How do I fix this issue?

This is a good start:

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

But you can start by testing this:

Start the program as an administrator, right-click on the executable or shortcut, and choose "Run as administrator" to see if the problem persists.

I just tried this and the problem persisted.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro, version 1803.

I have recently installed system updates, where a similar issue presented itself with the program Word.

I'm running Adobe Premiere Pro, version 12.0 with the most recent update installed.

I used to get error messages when this happened, however now the program just crashes and fails to inform me of anything.

If the problem manifested after updating Windows, my advice would be to reinstall Premiere.

First run the Adobe cleaning tool:

from step 6.

Reinstall and do it as administrator.

I do not update Windows, if the system works correctly I do not install updates.

Hopefully it will be fixed.
