GoPro Hero7 Black Lens Distortion Removal

Hello Premiere Pro Forums,

As many GoPro users are aware, in 4K mode, only Wide and Superview are options for FOV for the Hero7 Black. I'm curious if anyone has presets made for the GoPro Hero7 Black lens distortion removal within Premiere Pro. I should mention that I haven't messed around with it much, but was curious if someone already has a preset made for this, and wouldn't mind sharing with me and the Adobe community. I assume it would be the Lens Distortion effect followed by a specific curvature value. Unfortunately, Premiere Pro stopped with the Lens Distortion Removal presets after the Hero4. And yes, I put this in as a feature request already and voted for it in uservoice. I asked GoPro if I could just use one of those, and they said that they have made changes to their lenses, sensors, etc. since Hero4.

One person suggested using GoPro Studio, however GoPro Studio was discontinued a while ago. Plus, I'm trying to avoid using outside applications anyway, and keep things inside of Premiere Pro.

Another idea I'm considering is to run the videos through Photoshop and export, as is described here: Fixing lens distortion in Premiere Pro and Photoshop - YouTube. For some reason Photoshop has Hero7 Black lens correction filters for GoPro, but Premiere doesn't. Again, I'd prefer to keep this in Premiere, though.

Another suggestion, which I got from the After Effects Forum, is to shoot a test grid and come up with my own correction settings and save it as a preset. I shot a test grid, but then that's when I wondered if anyone else has already done this and may have a preset built. If no one does (or responds), then maybe I'll take the time to come up with my own correction settings and share it later so that maybe it saves someone else some time. According to the video above, the Lens Distortion presets in Premiere are all using the same effect, just with different presets.

In summary, my question is: does anyone have a preset to share for GoPro Hero7 Black wide FOV lens removal?

You can still download Gopro Studio (just google) and it handles the lens distortion much better then Pr.

Thanks, Ann. I thought about giving you a nice shout-out since you had suggested that to me before haha. Guess I'll give GoPro Studio a try. You think it will recognize Hero7 metadata and correct it automatically?

I dont know still use a Hero 3 black.
