high memory usage and power consumption

Hi there, 

I am working on a premiere project, nothing fancy, and I am experiencing the above issues. the project is a really easy one, no transitions or effects, just a video(resized on the top corner) and PowerPoint slides filling up the screen. everything worked fine untill yesterday I dragged in the project a Jpg file (10Mb) and the RAM usage went straight up to 97% and the cpu usage same story with "very high" power usage . I had to remove the picture and reduce the size in order to bring everything back under control. What can be the problem? the PC is brand new, with Nvidia quadro p2000 graphic card, 16GB of ram and ssd drive. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that while the cpu and the ram were super crazy the GPU was at 0%.
