Question

How can I add metadata to existing mp4 file?

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I feel this is my best option. I have several MP4 files that I will be upload into the data base of a local search engin. I need to add metadata to those video files, including description and keywords (for the search). I did this with photos in Photoshop and it's rather easy. But how can I do the same for the video files? Thanks.

You'll want to open the Metadata panel (if you don't see it next to the Source monitor, you can access it through the Window menu). Select any clip in your Project panel and you'll be able to edit its metadata in the Metadata panel. There are two major sections, Clip metadata and File metadata. Only File metadata actually alters the media file itself. Clip metadata is only saved within the Premiere project file which is probably useless to you in this scenario.

If you don't see the metadata field you're looking for, go to the panel menu and select Metadata Display to access TONS more metadata field.

I can't tell if Adobe is trying to kill Prelude, but there is little action on the forum.

Still it does have some features to make adding meta-date quickly, or at least quicker.

Here's a link to the forum and you can install it immediately from Creative Cloud.

To be fair, there's little use for the software.  There's nothing you can do there that you can't do in PP.

At best it was a program you might install on as Assistant Editor's machine.  But I'd wager few of the folks using PP have such.
