How do I put a shadow on a cropped image?

I'm relatively new to premiere pro, but I've been editing for 30+ years...  I need to get a drop shadow on a cropped image.  Before I cropped the image I had a drop shadow on it now the shadow won't go  beyond the crop.  I've changed the distance & direction no go! It was there before I cropped the image and I got it to work on another cropped image after a lot of changes in distance and direction but it worked this particular image not happening!  Why does the shadow go away with a crop?  Never had this issue in FCP and other non linear software I've used.

Thanks

This is not an issue. You have to change the order of the FX, Crop on top and Drop shadow under. Simply re arange the order of the FX in the effect control panel.
