How do you create fancy rotating text effect within Premiere?

Hi Adobe Friends, I'm trying to create a video effect where a title starts upwards at a -75 degree angle and rotates clockwise down to zero degrees flat. This effect only needs to last a second. To do this, I create a keyframe, of course, but the title's "position" changes to accommodate the change in rotation, making the text seesaw awkwardly within the frame. I want the title's "position" to remain on the same horizontal axis -- in other words, to remain locked in place while the title rotates down and levels out.

Here's a visual of what needs to be replicated. Pw is "adobe". Private video on Vimeo (disregard the title that blurs in at the end)

Can anyone keen recommend a way to do this effectively within Premiere? I'd rather not resort to After Effects here, if possible. I can make the text rotate, no issue, it's getting the "position" to remain fixed that's the tricky part. Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you!

Hello PatrickM,

Indeed, I would approach any text animation in After Effects, however, this one is absolutely achievable in Premiere Pro.

but the title's "position" changes to accommodate the change in rotation, making the text seesaw awkwardly within the frame. I want the title's "position" to remain on the same horizontal axis -- in other words, to remain locked in place while the title rotates down and levels out.

Rotation and other Motion effects (scale, position) are affected by the position of the Anchor Point. It does not need to remain in the middle of the clip. Moving the Anchor Point is moved to create certain effects.

In the Program Monitor, move the Anchor Point for the Title clip by dragging it with the Selection tool. Info: Apply motion adjustments to clips in Premiere Pro

Move the Anchor Point the upper left of the title or any clip. Rotation will now be from the upper left, like the animation you showed in your clip.

Learning this small technique can greatly enhance your animation game. Have fun with it.

BTW, you can get the motion blur you want by following directions here: Automatic Motion Blur in Premiere Pro - PremierePro.net

Come back with any questions.

Regards,
Kevin
