Sorry about that. I tried your issue and I could still reproduce it. I do have a bug report that was previously filed from user report from Vic Barry on Twitter. I'll add this thread to that bug. Hope we can get a fix soon.

This still has yet to be fixed and has been a bug now for many updates. The easiest work-around is to rename the clip after you merge.

Still happening with 24.6.1

There is a quick and odd fix. You just need to rename the merged clip. Why that works? I do not know, but it allowed me to create in points like a normal clip. You can rename it to whatever, and then change it back. It fixed the issue for me.
