Hi folks.
I have a Mac Pro 4,1 (El Capitan) on which I use the latest versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects, and until last Saturday it had a Quadro 4000 which suddenly conked out. I need to get a new card and, considering the age of the machine, I would like to get a card that I could re-use in a new machine. Since, in all likelihood, the next workstation is going to be Windows-based, if I could get a PC-compatible card, it would at least mitigate the expense.
I wrote to NVIDIA for advice, and here is what they said:
Since you already have Quadro 4000 and looking for an upgrade option [ken: not quite, I need to replace a dead card], Quadro K5000 for MAC is the only available and better option for video editing applications.
GPU's for MAC and windows are different so you will need to make sure You purchase the one that says For MAC specifically. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Nvidia-Quadro-Kepler-Graphics-Processing/dp/B00H5A8RIK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid...
P4000 and GTX 1080Ti are both not compatible with MAC and GTX 1080Ti is not recommended for application usage as this is Geforce series card and specifically designed for gaming purpose.

My questions to you gentle people:
* I know that macvidcards.com are selling flashed versions of the above cards, and people seem to have managed to use them successfully. Also, I reached out to them and they said that the cards ought to subsequently work in PCs too, flashing notwithstanding. Any thoughts on this?
* There is a good chance I might have to bite the bullet and make the unplanned move to a PC now. In which case it would still be between the P4000 and the 1080Ti. The latter has better specs for a similar price bracket, and I've seen comments on fora that indicate people have been using it with Premiere -- but is the NVIDIA comment correct, that the P4000 would be better suited?
Thank you all in advance.
