I have been trying to figure out a) the proper way to use markers to log interview clips and b) why my markers keep disappearing. I logged some of my interviews by putting markers in the source clip, and some I put the markers into a sequence containing the source interview clip. (I'm not sure which is the recommended method. Any advice?) When I went to assemble some of these marked segments into a sequence I realized that the markers that were added to the sequences were not easy to add to a new sequence so I selected "Open in Source Monitor". But now I notice that the markers for that sequence are completely gone even when I make that clip show up in the program monitor again.
I'd be grateful for 1) advice on the best workflow for using markers to log interviews so that the marked segments can be easily added to a program sequence. and 2) why the markers get deleted when you display a sequence in the source window? Is it a bug?
Using Premiere Pro CC 2018 v 12.1.1 Build 10 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB, MacOS 10.13.4 (17E202).
I'm seeing the same behavior here in 12.1.1 on Windows 10 Pro (1709). Opening a sequence in the Source Monitor will delete sequence markers.

There are two types of markers ... clip markers, and sequence markers.
Make sure you're making clip markers, as sequence markers are tied into their time-spot on the sequence, not the clip they are 'over' at the moment. This is one thing often easier done in the Source monitor than on a timeline. As it's so easy to get the wrong type of marker.

This is helpful to know, thanks!

This is a bug. Opening a sequence in the source monitor results in the sequence markers being deleted. I don't have the latest status handy, but here is one thread:
Markers missing after last update!
There have been other marker issues reported, so it makes a tight workflow tricky at present.

The Bug Report shows only 23 votes and is not yet "under consideration." I think staff have acknowledged the bug. Anyone affected by this should follow Jim's link and vote!
These are the workarounds other users have indicated, but I have not tested them.
Using the "new feature" copy/paste sequence markers. Can anyone confirm that this survives and save/close/reopen?:
Re: Why are my markers disappearing?
Re: Markers missing after last update!
This method places one sequence marker IN THE SOURCE MONITOR before placing any in the timeline. The poster believes they then stick. This may work if the sequence is simply opened in the source monitor once before adding markers in the timeline:
Re: Markers missing after last update!
Note that other marker issues have been reported, and I believe these are likely to include clip markers. For example, this thread provides a workaround for clip markers that appear and "disappear" after reopening a project:
Markers missing after last update!
Edit: Links got messed up. Fixed.

My understanding is this has been acknowledged also. Which would indicate someone probably has it on their to-do list. As to when we get the fix, no clue.
