Hi,
I have just installed a new Blackmagic Designs Decklink 4K Extreme 12G card in a windows 10 computer. This card is supposed to work with Premier Pro. I installed Premier Pro and the Blackmagic Decklink does not show up in the playback options as it should. What do I do to make this card show up in the playback options ?
I rarely deal directly with drivers, so please check what I plan to do to see if I am going to do the correct thing.
No need to use the Device Manager.
1. Download Desktop Video 10.11.4
2. Unzip the file.
3. Double click on the file Desktop Video Installer v10.11.4.msi
4. Follow the instructions.
5. Reboot the computer when promted.
6. Launch Premiere Pro and edit away.

Which BM driver did you install?

Did you open the Blackmagic Desktop Video software and confirm that everything is set up and working? Also make sure you have the right output settings selected. It can be a little picky.

I recently installed ( a month ago ? ) a 4k decklink card in PC, win 10, in a custom built computer (nicknamed 'the pig').
It wants a pci-e x8 slot (version 3 ? ). A fast slot.
Didn't work.
Took out and moved down to a 4x slot.
Didn't work.
uninstalled again...and installed drivers and stuff first , then card again into 8x slot. didn't work.
I discovered that when I screwed down the card to chassis the card was getting pulled extremely SLIGHTLY to one side, making the contacts on deep end of slot ( away from back of computer) come OUT an extremely small amount... so that it wasn't making good connection across the whole slot. I found this out by NOT screwing the card down, and trying it. It worked then.
But the card should be grounded on chassis (with screw) and also (obviously) you can't have the thing moving around when connecting and disconnecting SDI stuff.
So, I used the screw from the slot BELOW, the 8X pci slot, with a small fender washer, which gave me a bite on the decklink, AND didn't pull the pins out … and it works fine.
I found the decklink card has a very slightly LONG tongue (where connections are for SDI) so that it doesn't push down as far as it should into the pins of pci slot.

p.s.
it's not 'plug and play' so you won't get OS mssg "new hardware detected". You install drivers and software first. then card, and that stuff tells win 10 that it's installed.

Hi,
The driver version is 10.11.4.0, 10-23-2018.
I know the Decklink card is working because I have been using it with DaVinci Resolve Studio. It displays my 4K HDR content in 4K HDR on my 65" OLED HDR TV via the HDMI port.
Does it matter that I installed Premier Pro after the Decklink card ?

I rarely deal directly with drivers, so please check what I plan to do to see if I am going to do the correct thing.
In Device manager under "Sound, video and game controllers" I see three entries...Blackmagic DeckLink 4K extreme 12 G, Blackmagic DeckLink 4K extreme 12 G Audio, and Blackmagic DeckLink 4K extreme 12 G AVStream. I am going to select the first one, right-click and select "Uninstall Device". I think this will uninstall the driver for all three entries. Will these three entries remain after the driver is gone, perhaps with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to show there is no driver ? Then I will right-click on the first entry and select "Update Driver", allowing it to be found on the internet. Is this all correct ?

I think this is the answer here.

hmm.
typically, uninstall device means you disable the device. Do that for your devices ( there are 3 so I don't know if you have to do it for all three or what will happen if you just choose the first one.)
I just have one device on mine.
I don't want my sound to go through the decklink only.. I like it on my pig, so I just installed the card to 'play' video out of the SDI output. Oddly, I do get sound to the video (SDI) monitor but I don't depend on it and the volume is low on it.
Most of my sound comes out of speakers hooked up to the pig.
I don't use the card to 'capture'. I can, but I don't.
When I open the Blackmagic video setup thing, I see THIS.
Using resolve I get primary monitor (eiso calibrated to rec 709 2.2), secondary junk monitor (for other panels like scopes etc.) and video monitor via SDI ( pro monitor, but a small field monitor, like Lilliput works too via SDI... quality sucks on field monitor ).
A while back I installed a mini monitor card that did not work for SDI output. Only Hdmi worked.
I think there's weird stuff where hdmi gets passed through the pci slot from graphics card or something, so a TV works, but the SDI doesn't. That's one reason I upgraded to the 4k thing.
You should be seeing an option via video desktop (under Blackmagic programs in 'programs' ) similar to what you see in pic above... but with your own specs for SDI output, etc.
My video monitor is 1080, so that's what I use.
Anyway, if you disable device, and REBOOT...THEN YOU CAN ENABLE DEVICE. Then reboot, and it should find the drivers it needs if you have then on your computer...or you can choose to look on internet.
good luck !
sorry, cause I know how frustrating this stuff can be... been there...

with plug and play stuff, typically you uninstall a device, then TAKE OUT THE DEVICE. Then when you put the device back in, the OS see's 'new hardware' and looks for drivers automatically.. that's the difference... cause BM cards are NOT plug and play.

P.S.
I have an HDMI to SDI (Blackmagic) converter that I just got a couple months ago. Some guy sent me a Blackmagic BMPCC to fool around with raw (cinema Dng) stuff, along with the converter. It works good ( the converter). Not expensive. You need various connectors and cables, etc. but it's basic bnc stuff.
So, I can put the BMPCC on a tripod, plug in the dc converter (batteries don't last long), tether it to the pig, and SEE the image from camera on the Video monitor via SDI stuff...and see it in resolve … but it all depends on the SDI stuff, cause hdmi is just not the same animal.
???
I'm a total idiot, though, so take everything I say with grain of salt.

check that... (correction) … I can't go through resolve with that, and apply luts and grades and see that on video monitor...unless I add yet another lut box thing.. or whatever... I just went from camera to video monitor... not through resolve.
sorry, I get confused sometimes.
