Hello. I'm trying to import a large video file to Premiere Pro and keep running into the "Unsupported compression type" error. The video has no audio and was separated from a larger MKV file using mkvmerge.
Here's some information on the file I gathered from MediaInfo:
Alright I think I got it figured out: converting the avc to an mp4 in VLC did the trick.

What file extension does it have? Try changing to .mp4

Doesn't affect anything, the error is the same. I've already tried saving it as an mp4 as well.
Plus when the file extension is rejected it usually throws an unsupported file type error, I think this is something else.

CK7,
Sorry, friend! Try transcoding this file in Shareware, such as Handbrake or Shutter Encoder. Then I bet it works!
Best,
Kevin

MKV is not supported in Premiere.
Converting is your best bet.
