Save files not saving since update

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2017 Oct 26, 2017

Hello,

I hope someone can help me please.

I updated premiere pro cc yesterday as I have always done in the past, by just clicking 'Update'.

After it had completed, I opened the project I was working on and began editing,  After a while, I went to save my work. I clicked on 'Save As' checked it was being saved to the right file then confirmed I wanted to overwrite the original.

Then it all went blank.

I looked for the work I had saved and couldn't find it. So, I opened a saved version from earlier....and did all the editing again. I then went to save again, this time it was ok so closed it down, and went to bed.

On waking this morning, when I went to open the project, it has reverted back to the original timeline......how can that be possible?

On looking through saved versions, there are many......and not one of them is the version I saved.

What is perplexing me more than anything is if I save my work to a file named  'Butterflies'    and then close it, then why isn't 'Butterflies' the project that I saved when I open it again? How can it revert back to an earlier version?

I should be able to work on a project, save it and then be able to open it at that same point at any time.....and not have to go looking through auto saved files.

I'm only a novice with pp....so is it something I am missing?

Best is to not overwrite projects but when updating give them unique names (I also keep them in separate folders).

You now may face an issue with reverting back to older version. (project not opening).

Here is a link for previous version as the CC app is not complete.

That doesnt sound right.

If I save a project and then do some more work on it, save it again, and so on, why would I give each save a unique name?

I would end up with 500+ different projects for all the saving I do......

Premiere Pro wont even open for me now.

No, when updating.

Project in 2018 should not have the same name as the one you used in 2017.

If you want to go back here is a link for 2017.

I updated yesterday.

I then opened a project I was working on and it said the usual....that I needed to convert to the new version.....which I did.

I have then worked on the project, saved it under a new name  (why is this now necessary?) and yet when I then open it it is either completely missing, or showing me a saved version from before I saved it manually.

I have edited my project 3 times now since the update and every time its not saving properly.

The link you gave me doesnt work as I get a message saying the installer file is damaged or missing. Nor can I open PP at all now.

I dont believe its my system.

Premiere pro was working perfectly yesterday, as it has always done.

I then updated and now it doesnt work at all and now wont even open.

There are also others with the same issues.

If you think its Premiere,

Deinstall, use cleaner tool, reinstall.

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Hello,

Yes, unfortunately, this has also happened to me as well.

I've nothing helpful to add in the way of a fix as I've not yet found a reliable working solution, thus all I can do is to try and reinstall and rename the project to something else, so I've at least got several copies of it.

Such a nuisance.

A follow up to my above post...

I've just tried opening my file as per usual and although nothing was in the timeline, there are files present in the project media tab at the bottom left (where it says project/media browser/libraries/info...etc).

I noticed that one of the file lengths was around 11mins - which was what I had originally edited a 27min piece down to, and when dragging the 11min file on to the timeline I saw two green looking tracks (video and audio) instead of three blue ones (one video track; two audio tracks). What's happened is that the tracks/project has kind of been 'stamped' as if when compiled/rendered. So, upon playback, everything is as I wanted/previously edited, but it now means that you can't alter anything (or very little) on those finalized tracks.

Luckily, I had purposely finished editing one main file before saving, so it looks like I've been fortunate. If you want me to add a pic, let me know.

hm, this sounds like your problem in your pc, what i suggest, after editing one, but edit somehting, make anything in there and save in a completely new drive and different name, then close premiere. When you open the project try opening from the project files not from PP launcher. Let me know how that goes please. I had a similar problem right after opening my first project because PP loaded 2 projects in one (it can do that now) i was so confused. Specially for a new user might get very confusing, so take it easy.

1. open whatever project

2. do any edit in it

3. save as....select a different drive (desktop maybe?) and put a totally different name (taking out some of the variables this way)

4. Close premiere

5. Open the project from the file not from PP launcher. (just double click the project file)

I'm curious what happens.

well that is not good also i guess haha. One thing would be uninstall and manually edit the reg files (dangerous) but should work 75% shure.

Just got off a chat with them, I was having the same problem. They said it is a bug with the new update and they don't have a timeframe for when it will be fixed. A lot of people putting the cart before the horse in this thread.

Just spent two days putting a video together for a client and had been saving throughout, but after a restart, the video does NOT exist!!  I open the project and it loads the clips, artwork and audio in the media section but the video does not exist. Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue huh? And my luck,. Adobe is closed on the weekend.

I had trouble doing a "save as" as some of you have. It turned to a black screen and I had to reopen PP as you had. I assumed "save" was working so continued to edit. Now I cant send the video to the client as planned and have to start all over. Anyone have a fix for this yet??

Have exact same problem, been going crazy. It seems like it saves the project as one clip.  Has anyone got a fix for this yet?

Having same problem:

I've run several tests, when I "save" the project, all the work disappears once I close Premiere and re-open the file. I've noticed the "date created" also changes to the most recent time i closed the project.

when I "Save as," and create a new file, it is also not saving.

Recap: premiere is not saving.

The only thing that is *sort of* saving is auto-save (except it looses the last 10 minutes of work).

Don't drag the sequence you want to work on into a Timeline, that will automatically nest it.

Instead, double click on the sequence you want to work on in the Project Panel, it will then open in the timeline as you left it.
